Moving With Kids

If thinking about moving gets you anxious, below are some tips to make this transition better for everyone.

Communicate the upcoming move.

One of the most vital things you can do to make your move exponentially better is talking with your kids about the upcoming move. Tell them exactly what is going to happen and when, and if they’re old enough, have them get involved.

Give everyone enough time.

As adults, we’re on a moving timeframe where things need to be precisely executed so you can get back to regular life, but it’s important to leave yourself a little wiggle room. Give your kids an opportunity to say their goodbyes and know this will take time out from your move. The best practice as a parent is patience, and the move will surely test it!

Have toys and activities on hand.

You can donate and pack most of your kids’ toys, but make sure you leave a bin or bag available with their favorite toys. The last thing you want is getting to your new place and not having any activities! Meltdown city ahead! So, do yourself a favor and leave some things out.
